# What is KENP on Amazon KDP?

KENP stands for Kindle Edition Normalized Page, the unit KDP uses to count how much of an enrolled book Kindle+ subscribers read. KDP works it out using standard formatting, so the count does not depend on the reader's device or settings. It applies only to books in KDP Select.

## What it means in practice

KDP counts pages read from the Start Reading Location, which it typically sets at chapter 1, to the end of the book. Images, charts and graphs count toward KENP. Earnings come from the KDP Select Global Fund at a rate KDP sets, so a page count alone does not tell you a figure in dollars.

Only books in KDP Select earn this way. Select is a 90-day program, and KDP says enrolling an eBook "makes it exclusive to Amazon". If you also plan to offer the same book on your own page or in other stores, read KDP's terms before you enroll.

## How Chapbook uses it

It doesn't. Chapbook neither enrolls books in KDP Select nor reports reads. The free [KDP royalty calculator](/tools/kdp-royalty-calculator/) works on sale royalties only, and enrolling in Select is a choice you make on KDP.

Yes. KDP's KENP page, checked on 30 October 2026, says authors can earn a maximum of 3,000 KENP read per title per customer.
