# AI ebook writer for nonfiction: from one paragraph to EPUB

Chapbook is an AI ebook writer for nonfiction. From one paragraph it plans an outline you approve, drafts 5,000 to 40,000 words chapter by chapter in your voice and from your sources, and exports an EPUB 3, a typeset PDF, a Word document and a cover. It does not write fiction.

## At a glance

- Length: 5,000 to 40,000 words, 25,000 by default.
- A first draft like The Pricing Playbook, at its planned chapter lengths, uses about 129 credits: planning, its 11 chapters, one read-through and one cover.

## Made with Chapbook: The Pricing Playbook

The Pricing Playbook: How founders set a price they can defend, by Jane Founder. Nonfiction book, 9,862 words, 43 pages. A sample generated from one brief and exported unedited; it is not a customer's book. Read every page: https://chapbook.ink/examples/nonfiction/

The brief:

> A repeatable method for pricing software: customer interviews, a value metric, tiering, and setting numbers you can defend. Promise: A repeatable method for setting a price you can defend to customers, investors and yourself, validated by ten customer interviews in a week. Reader: A founder who priced by guessing or by copying a competitor and now has to defend or change the number. Voice: Direct second person with occasional first person; worked examples with fictional companies; tables where they clarify; no invented statistics or named studies: reason from mechanics and examples.

The outline the planner proposed:

1. Introduction (620 words)
2. Why Guessing Fails (1,014 words)
3. What You Are Actually Selling (1,004 words)
4. Interview Ten Customers (1,088 words)
5. Choose the Value Metric (979 words)
6. Draft Three Tiers (1,076 words)
7. Set the Numbers (1,130 words)
8. Say the Price Out Loud (1,063 words)
9. Revisit Every Quarter (994 words)
10. Conclusion (384 words)
11. Appendix: The Interview Script (475 words)

## Why a long book is not one long prompt

A whole book asked for in one prompt tends to repeat itself and lose its argument. Chapbook works from an outline instead: title options, a one-line positioning, and a chapter-by-chapter plan with a word count for each. You reorder, rewrite or cut chapters until the plan is the book you meant, and only then is anything drafted.

Each chapter is then drafted against its line in that plan. The sample here, The Pricing Playbook, moves from why guessing fails through interviewing customers to setting the numbers, in the order the outline set, and was exported unedited so you can judge the first draft as it came.

## Your material, your call

Add up to 10 sources (PDFs, documents, text, or up to 5 web pages), and chapters draw on them and cite them inline. A read-through flags claims no source supports. It can only flag them: checking what is true stays with you.

Your voice comes from up to 5 samples of your own writing. After the first draft, edit any passage by hand or ask for a rewrite; the assistant's changes arrive as suggestions you accept or reject, and earlier versions of a chapter stay in its history.

## Who it is for

- **Experts** writing the book of their method, the one that gets them hired or booked.
- **Nonfiction authors** publishing a first ebook who want a draft to edit, not a finished book to trust.
- **Founders and practitioners** with years of notes and talks that never became one argument.

## If you publish it on Amazon

The EPUB 3 works with Kindle, Apple Books and Kobo. Beside it, the KDP listing tab sets out your description, keywords and categories in the order of KDP's own form, and a nonfiction book also exports a KDP-sized paperback interior and wrap cover from the same manuscript.

Three things to plan for:

- **Disclosure.** KDP's [Content Guidelines](https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G200672390) require you to tell it about AI-generated content when you publish. The free [AI-generated or AI-assisted helper](/tools/kdp-ai-disclosure-helper/) quotes KDP's definitions and walks through your case.
- **The weekly limit.** As of 29 October 2026, KDP allows 2 new titles per format each week; [the guide to the limit](/guides/kdp-weekly-title-limit/) has the details and its sources. The [weekly-limit planner](/tools/kdp-weekly-limit-planner/) shows what that means for a release schedule.
- **Price.** The free [royalty calculator](/tools/kdp-royalty-calculator/) shows what a sale earns at each royalty rate. It says nothing about how many will sell, and neither do we.

## How it works

1. **Write the brief.** One paragraph: the reader, the promise and how it should sound.
2. **Approve the outline.** Planning uses 10 credits. Change anything before a word is drafted.
3. **Read it free.** The free plan drafts one chapter of up to 2,500 words, with a watermarked cover, so you can judge the voice before paying.
4. **Draft, edit, export.** Drafting uses 1 credit per 125 words, and credits reserved for words that were not written come back.

## What it does not do

Chapbook does not write fiction, make a hardcover, or upload anything to a store for you. It writes books in English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian and Dutch, up to 40,000 words. A book it drafts is still a first draft: plan to read every chapter, fix what you know better, and check every claim before your name goes on it.

## Questions

### How long an ebook can Chapbook write?

A Chapbook nonfiction book is 5,000 to 40,000 words long, 25,000 by default. You set each chapter's length in the outline before anything is drafted.

### Does Chapbook write fiction?

No. Chapbook writes nonfiction only, such as how-to books, playbooks and field guides. Novels and short stories are not something it plans or drafts.

### What does a full-length ebook cost in credits?

A first draft at the default 25,000 words uses about 257 credits: planning, every chapter, one read-through and one cover. The price of each step shows before it runs.

### Will Amazon accept an ebook written with Chapbook?

No tool can promise that, and Chapbook does not. KDP reviews every book. Chapbook gives you the files and a listing sheet in the order of KDP's form; what you publish, and whether it passes, stays between you and Amazon.

### Do I have to tell Amazon the book used AI?

KDP's Content Guidelines, checked 30 October 2026, require you to tell it about AI-generated text, images or translations when you publish. They do not require you to disclose AI-assisted content. Chapbook's KDP listing has a place for this answer.

### Will the ebook sound like me?

Drafting reads a voice profile made from up to 5 pieces of your own writing, and every change the assistant proposes afterwards arrives as a suggestion you accept or reject.
